I’m Drowning and It’s Okay

$200.00

I’m Drowning and It’s Okay is a reflection on the first summer I ever fell in love or at least thought I did.

We were kids at a pool where everything felt endless: freeze pops staining our tongues , games of hide and seek, laughter echoing through the air. We were too shy to speak directly to each other, so we communicated through stolen glances and half-smiles from opposite sides of the water.

On the final evening of summer, the sun disappeared slowly over the pool and I somehow understood, that we would never see each other again.

This painting holds that feeling and that memory: the softness of young innocence, the ache of fleeting connection taken too soon by the end of summer vacation, and the beauty of memories that never really leave us. Layers of color drift across the canvas like reflections on water, blurring together the way nostalgia does over time but still vibrant as ever.

The title speaks to being overwhelmed by emotion while still allowing yourself to feel it fully. Sometimes we drown in memory, in longing, and in beauty. And I want the viewer to know that’s okay.
